I studied fashion at Trent Polytechnic but I consider myself to be a self taught textile designer specializing in the making of natural and non-toxic dyes. I favour a 'Waste not want not' approach to design and use recycled woollen blankets and a selection of reclaimed and vintage fabrics to construct my range of bags, purses, toys and homewares.
I use several techniques to illustrate my designs from appliqué to freehand machine embroidery and at present I'm working on a range of silk screen designs. Inspiration comes predominately from nature and the environment but with a whimsical twist to reflect upon our everyday lives.
Due to the nature of natural and non-toxic dyes colours will vary slightly making each bag unique in its own right. This also applies to the vintage fabric bags as using reclaimed fabrics variations will also occur, but the design and quality will always be constant making each one as individual as its future owner.
