Hidden Art Cornwall History

Rooftop view
Hidden Art Cornwall is based at the new Design Centre, Tremough Campus, Penryn. Hannah Maughan a textile designer and senior lecturer at University College Falmouth initiated the franchise. A former Hidden Art member, Hannah moved to Cornwall in 2003 and identified the need to remain in touch with the network that Hidden Art provides in London.

Our staff
Hannah worked extensively on the early stages of bringing Hidden Art to Cornwall, and will continue to be involved with running the franchise. Jessie Higginson is the project manager for Hidden Art Cornwall. Jessie has a background as a designer-maker, running a business making slip-cast porcelain ceramics, as well as working as a part time lecturer and freelance designer. Charlotte Tangye is the communications and membership coordinator. Her background is in company publications and she is an independent product designer.

Our potential
Hannah Maughan says: "Cornwall is already known as a place for inspiration for designer-makers. Helping them to connect to their markets is one of the most valuable new services we can provide".

Dieneke Ferguson, Chief Executive and founder of Mazorca Projects said: "It has been a long-term ambition to extend Hidden Art further, but its success has always been due to the way the project works at a local, personal level. This exciting new partnership with Cornwall paves the way for us to replicate Hidden Art in precisely the way we like to run our service. I am delighted by this opportunity to work with such a promising area as Cornwall with the enthusiasm and potential its designer-maker community has shown and we look forward to forging strong links between these similar communities."
